Spiceface Beauty is a vegan makeup brand by and for women of color, inspired by the warm and deep tones of spices. To reflect this in their branding, earthy tones are used with a cooling blue as a bold contrast. Using this juxtaposition of warm colors with a cool contrast color creates visual interest and prevents the warm tones from becoming too overwhelming. Incorporating a chilli pepper into the logo, and as the main submark makes the brand Spiceface synonymous with spice.

 

The Tinted Lip Shimmer Balm is the first product in their 'Lip Love' range and the brand messaging carries over into the names of the shades. Names like Cardamom (olive and gold), Harissa (burnt orange), Cayenne (deep red) and Ice (clear shimmer) all lead back to the theme of spice. Each shade/ color also has a shape illustration that represents these spices.

 

The packaging for the Tinted Lip Shimmer Balm incorporates line art as a way of adding interest and movement. This concept came from the inspiration of historical Spice Routes that were trade routes connecting the East and West, popular for transporting spices. The end product is a thoughtfully crafted brand that is true to its roots!
